Some of you may be aware through face book and kiting fora, that Fast Arie, as he's known, had a bad accident while ice buggying in Norway. He was lofted big time at the begining of the month and had spent over a week in a comma while recovering from injuries sustained.

The information at the end of this thread explains the reason for the appeal. Anyone wishing to contribute will find that using the direct route mearly lines the banking systems pockets through the horrendous charges for overseas bank charges. A minimum of £10 no matter how much you wish to send.

The association is willing to take raceipt of any donations and they can then be passed on in one payment to reduce the transfer charges.
Payment can be made through the PayPal system to "treasurer @ spka.org" (remove spaces) if you choose 'personal' and 'gift' in the payment system you can opt to pay the paypal fee your self or have it deducted from the gift donation. Either way it will be far less than paying the banking system charges. Put a reference as Arjen or FAst Arie etc so it's known what the payment is for.

For our foreign friends: Our friend Arjen is recovering from his accident. Slowly but steady. He is still in Norway and needs to be transported to Holland for further surgery and revalidation. The only way to do this is by ambulance airplane. Unfortunately the costs for transportion (about 15000 euros !!!) are not covered by his insurance. That is why his friends set up the "Luctor Et Emergo" page on facebook to gather donations for Arjen%s trip. If you want to contribute, please check the details below:

Keith says how about we donate our race fees for the weekend ON TOP of any monies people would like to give. We have enough for our needs in the tin.

Joyce, I think that would be a VERY good idea.  I believe that I may still have £10 in the race fund, from the very first Fraserburgh meet which I registered for but no racing took place.  Please put this into the fund, as well as the amount I have donated.

I just checked my banking system in case I get free international transfers (because I was told on the phone the other day that I do) but it looks like the standard fee is £10 + whatever the foreign bank want to add on (probably about the same).

The PKA were going to have a collection yesterday (which I somehow missed) and are hoping that they can use banking connections to bypass or reduce the fees. You facebookers have probably already had that conversation?

A payment of €300.00 (£252.85) has been made to the fund today on behalve of the SPKA.

Any others still wishing to make a donation can do so via Paypal, (who I believe are waiving there fees) at http://www.luctoremergo.nl/english.html follow the 'Donate' button at the bottom of the page.

Many thanks to all who made donations, there current total 'to date' can also be viewed at the top of the above web address, over €6,000.00 so far!!
